Save Money on Common Business Expenses

By Bella D’Courz
Save money on business expenses and you could improve your cash flows immediately. If you’re like most start ups, chances are that reducing expenses and saving money are on the top list of your business plan. Any time is a good time to get your business expenses under control.

Here are a few different ways to make that happen:

Save money on office furniture

Put remote work measures in place: This one step could save you hundreds of dollars a month in rental fees, office furniture expenses and utilities. If it’s not necessary for your staff to be onsite at your work location to perform their job, consider incorporating remote work measures into your daily work processes.

Design co-working offices or incubator rooms: If you need workers to be onsite, using co-worker office space and/or incubator space could prove less costly than paying for traditional work space.

Save money on office supplies

Change internet based telephone services: VOIP phone services could be cheaper compared to traditional company land lines.

Observe power saving behaviors: Putting energy saving behaviors (i.e. turning  off workplace lights and computers at the end of the day) can result in utility bill savings.

How to save money on company travel

Reserve seminar travel early: When it comes to forum registration fees, booking early is usually better. In order to save money, develop your travel plans early in the year in order to reap the best discounts.

Save receipts: except if you’re a tax expert, you might not be conscious of all the different business expense deductions you are eligible to receive. Track travel expenses so your financial officer can get your company all deductions it’s eligible to receive.

Work with a travel agent: If you travel frequently or have odd travel needs, working with a travel agent could save you money, getting you cheaper rates and fees than you’d get if you made travel reservations on your own.

Cut costs on business service

Employ a good accountant: Good accountants aren’t automatically economical, but their detailed understanding of tax law means that you can gain more in the form of deductions than you might gain by doing your own taxes.

Trade your services: An outstanding number of professionals are open to trading services, so whether you need printing, graphic design or another service, check to see if you can find an associate who’s willing to trade.

Save money while you market your business

Ask for recommendations: Marketing to bring in new clients can be costly. To cut costs, seek referrals from satisfied customers.

Distribute advertising cost: If you have to publicize through traditional means, ask around to see if you can get a business associate who’s ready to split advertisements cost with you.

In conclusion, it’s important to note that intelligent ideas, preparation and good management will see your business through the good and bad times. Get in touch with the department for work and pension to make the best choices you can, and move on with an improved expense plan.
