Sure. You can spend hours a day manually posting advice and tips at a dozen or more social networks. That’s one way to get more social media traffic. It’s also a good way to eat up time you could spend developing new products, meeting customers face-to-face and enjoying life.

Help is available. Below are 5 easy ways to get more social media traffic to your blog or website in short amounts of time.

TweetChat (www.tweetchat.com) – You’ll need a Twitter account to sign up for TweetChat. There’s no cost involved. Choose a hastag (i.e. #books) to follow at TweetChat. Respond to relevant scrolling tweets related to the hastag you type into the TweetChat dashboard. Add posts from your blog or website to TweetChat conversations, being certain to add your blog or website URL. Not only will you meet people with shared interests, you’ll gain new Twitter followers. Takes less than 5 minutes.

Write great blog posts – Write blog posts that entertain, educate or inspire. Forget writing for yourself, until you impress yourself with your style, level of writing difficulty, etc. Write for consumers and readers. Give people what they already want. Don’t try to force them to want whatever you give them.

Automate posts – Use tools like HootSuite, Buffer, Pingfm Poster, Posterous, Social Oomph and Only Wire to posts to several social networks at once. Most of these services have free accounts. For example, you can send 300 posts a month at Only Wire with a free account.

Comment on other posts – Leave “intelligent” comments on other blogs and websites, including newspaper and magazine sites. Comments that show you actually read data on the sites drives more traffic to your business blog or website than comments that show you didn’t even read material at sites you comment on. As a tip, “Great site!” “Way to go!” “Glad I found your blog” aren’t considered as meaty comments. After all, you could use a comment automation system and leave those remarks at thousands of websites with the click of a button.  Moderators and readers are as intelligent as you are; they’ll know what you’re doing.

Upload pics and videos – Upload pictures and videos to social networks. Also add pics and videos to your blogs and websites. Connect pictures and videos to your brand. Want more traffic? Also add your videos to YouTube.

I like Tweet Chat. I get several new Twitter followers a day just by posting two to three tweets in Tweet Chat. It’s an easy way to grow Tweeter followers.
