Gifted Children and The Orphan Train on Off The Shelf

Listeners learn about the orphan train, a “real life” movement that occurred from 1854 until 1929 in the United States. Approximately 250,000 children were sent on the orphan train, some separated from their parents for the remainder of their physical experiences. Other children were welcomed into caring homes after they were placed on the orphan train. Within her story, Obsessed By a Promise, Sandra Warren sheds light on these historic events, highlighting the fictional story of two brothers who were separated after one brother is placed on the orphan train.
